APPENDIX D
(Normative)
D1 GENERAL
This Appendix lists the Standards which are used for the type testing of products to determine compliance with regulatory requirements for electrical safety.
NOTE: Regulators may vary the nominated Standards in the following circumstances:
(a) Compliance with specific clauses of Standards may not be required if it can be established that the product is not less safe than one fully complying with the Standard.
(b) Compliance with additional requirements or other Standards may be required in unusual situations when this is necessary to ensure safety.
(c) Where a Standard is marked with an asterisk thus*, this indicates that the Standard is in the course of being replaced by another Standard as shown.
(d) If an actual article does not come within the scope of the nominated Standard, a determination from a regulator should be obtained.
(e) Regulators generally will not allow AS/NZS 3100 to be used for appliances falling within the scope of AS/NZS 3350.1.

D3 EXCLUSION FROM USE OF THE REGULATORY COMPLIANCE MARK
The following Standard has technical differences between Australian and New Zealand requirements such that the type of product shown cannot be marked with the RCM. The Standard may be used in the relevant country as the basis for compliance with that country's regulations, but is not used as the basis of the RCM because of the lack of uniformity between Australia and New Zealand.
When the Standard is harmonized and differences removed, products complying with the harmonized Standard would be eligible to be marked with the RCM to indicate compliance with electrical safety regulations. The Standard is listed here for information only.

D4 USE OF OTHER STANDARDS
Some of the Australian/New Zealand Standards listed in Paragraph D2 are harmonized or aligned with international Standards produced by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
Test reports to the equivalent IEC Standards may be accepted by electrical regulators as establishing compliance, in full or part, with the listed Australian/New Zealand Standards. Additional testing or inspection processes may need to be conducted to address the requirements of the listed Standards. Advice should be obtained from an electrical regulator on the additional requirements.
